Just this morning, my YouTube subscriber count magically grew past 1000. First, I want to thank all of you who have subscribed to my YouTube channel – and if you are only reading over on the blog, be sure to head to YouTube to subscribe too. In this blog post, I’m going to share the “not-so-secret” secret about how I got to 1000.

And I say “not so secret” because it’s advice you’ve probably already heard. But you’ve heard it because it works. And it worked for me.

Make Great Content – Often

So the secret is to make great content and to make it every week. Once I adopted this strategy, along with SEO optimizing that content so my viewers could find it, I was off to the races. There are three things about posting weekly (or more often if possible – as long as the content stays great!)

  1. You will have 52 videos for people to view at the end of the year, so new viewers can see you produce regular great content. And they’ll be more likely to subscribe.
  2. Your subscribers will be getting your content every week – so they won’t immediately forget about you. They are most excited about your channel when they push subscribe – and that excitement fades fast – so the quicker you can get more content to them, the better.
  3. Out of 52 videos, one is likely to get a lot of attention. I’ve heard other people talk about this ratio – 1/50th of your videos will drive most of your subscribers. That has been true for my channel. And if I wasn’t committed to weekly videos, I never would have produced the one that took off.

As a celebration of my 1000 subscribers – I’m giving away a video course I just finished last weekend.  I don’t even have a sales page up yet.  But I want to give this video series to everyone that is reading this post.  Just use this link to pick up my course Get More YouTube Views – Video SEO on Gumroad.  And let me know what you think.
